Creating these graphics from the statues displayed in the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Messene I was strangely reminded of the black granite sculptures of Ancient Egypt. Personally, I have never witnessed an ancient Greek statue made of granite and recalled that ancient Greek sculptures were painted with quite vibrant colors!
